Why we will not sell you a visa appointment

The single most searched, highest-intent question in our market is how to get a visa appointment. We could sell an answer to it tomorrow. Here is why we do not, and what actually works instead.

The short version

Appointment slots at VFS Global and TLScontact are free to book on the official portals. In Nigeria and Kenya they are hoarded by automated software the moment they are released and resold through WhatsApp and Telegram — ₦50,000 to ₦100,000 in Nigeria, KSh 15,000 to KSh 50,000 in Kenya. VFS Global has issued public warnings to applicants about agents selling fraudulent early appointments. No agent, including us, has privileged access to those systems. Buying a resold slot funds the shortage, and a booking made in mismatched details can be rejected at the counter. The only genuine advantage available is a completed document file, because cancellations reopen dates constantly and only prepared applicants can take them.

What the resale market actually is

Automated software monitors the VFS Global and TLScontact booking portals and claims slots the instant they are released. Those slots — which cost nothing — are then moved to WhatsApp and Telegram groups and sold. In Nigeria the going rate is commonly ₦50,000 to ₦100,000. In Kenya, KSh 15,000 to KSh 50,000, with reports of far larger frauds built on the same premise.

This is why the calendar looks permanently grey. The scarcity you experience is partly genuine — demand for European travel has risen sharply since the post-pandemic recovery while slot supply has not kept pace — and partly manufactured by the people selling you the solution to it.

VFS Global has issued public advisories warning applicants in African markets against agents offering paid early appointments. When the operator of the booking system tells you that nobody can sell you priority access to it, that is worth more than any agent's assurance.

The scarcity is partly real and partly manufactured by the people selling you the way out of it.

Why we will not do it

Three reasons, in order of how much they should matter to you rather than to us.

It would not work reliably, and you would carry the risk
A booking made in someone else's details, or with details that do not match your passport, can be rejected at the counter. You would have paid for an appointment and lost the appointment.
It funds the shortage
Every payment makes hoarding more profitable and slots scarcer for the next applicant, who is in exactly your position. A market where this is normal is worse for every applicant in it.
We could not then be trusted on anything else
If we told you we had a channel into the booking system, we would be lying — and a service that lies about that is not a service you should believe about your document file either.

To be exact about our own capability: our systems can read published appointment availability. They cannot create a slot, reserve one, or move you up a queue, and we will not describe them as though they can.

What actually works

The realistic strategy is unglamorous and it genuinely works, which is why it is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up.

Finish the documents first, then hunt the date
Almost everyone does this backwards. Cancellations reopen dates constantly and usually at short notice — the applicants who capture them are the ones with nothing left to prepare.
Know which operator holds your destination
VFS Global, TLScontact, Capago and BLS handle different consulates. Watching the wrong portal is a common and completely wasted effort.
Check daily, and watch for cancellations rather than only new releases
Release times are unpredictable and change. Cancellations are continuous, and far less contested than a fresh drop.
Apply where your itinerary genuinely justifies
If your trip really centres on a less congested member state, applying there is correct and often much faster. If it does not, that is visa shopping — consulates detect it, and it damages you across all 27 member states.
Start early — 2 to 3 months for popular destinations
Earlier for December and the July–August European summer, when calendars compress hard.
